A heritage and beautiful place in Qatar.. .
Full with cultural experience of local life.Best way to spend one night in Doha, Qatar with many options to eat Arabian and Mediterranean cuisines. This is an old bazaar or trader market still has old architectural touch.
Nice place to sit and relax in the hustle bustle of the city. Enjoy looking at the people walking past with smiles and happiness. A place where localities and expats can be seen together. Week ends are little crowded as u could see families with kids enjoying the weather but a recommended place in doha.
It is a huge market with all of the necessary shops where you can bargain for the product. The collection of products is huge and really seems wonderful! It is an ancient market of Qatar and heavy crowd like deluge hits on every eve of weekends and during weekends.
Had an awesome time! The food was excellent and there are a lot of neat things you can buy there. You can negotiate with most of the vendors there so feel free to try and reduce the price a bit. I felt safe the entire time and didn't see any evidence of crime. The place was very clean. It's a must for tourists.
Well, this is going to be an easy one. If its your first time in Qatar, do not, i repeat, do not miss visiting Souq Waqif. If you are a regular, then you do know how amazing this Souq is.
So many wonderful shops, food stores and cafes to explore. It seems that it is visited by locals and visitors alike. People are friendly and it has a great atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit when in Doha.
When you feel like going to a street for shopping or a walk or for a dinner, this place is great. With all the shops designed to look like historic Qatar street, you can feel the culture of the country as you walk through. Only problem is its not air conditions and hence you can enjoy the visit only in winter that is November to march.
The Pick of Doha! Just walking on the meandering lanes consumed by the heady mix of spices gives it an old world charm that I assume is what books of ancient markets speak of.Beyond that you see markets and lanes filled with Gold, Textiles, Shoes, Perfumes, food, sweets, utensils and pets. It's a lovely walkabout if that's all you want, or a place to buy a few works of the middle East and a lot from elsewhere. There a lot of restaurants, tourists and locals of every hue and sound. I loved the place, though I bought nothing except the atmosphere and food.
Souq Waqif is the most happening place in Doha in terms of traditional Gulf attraction. It is host to not only gift articles, souvenir shops, Boutique Hotels and restaurants but also traditional perfumes and spices. Each corner of Souq Waqif is photogenic. Keep the mobile battery full.
We visited late in the evening after most shops were closed, but market was fun to walk through and there are lots of great photo ops around. We had a fantastic dinner at Shujaa and grabbed a chimney cake ice cream cone from the outdoor courtyard.
great bazaar to just stroll around the internal alleyways for an hour or two .. nice and central with other markets (falcon, gold) and plenty restaurants adjacent... rich in colours and smells, especially aromatic spices... strange and eclectic wares for sale in some of the nooks and crannies... worth an explore for an hour or two..safe
Wonderful experience. Street food to good restaurants you can enjoy as per your budget. There are lots of shops if you want souvenirs for your loved ones.
As a first time visitor to the country, the market really brought a feel of an old school Arab bazaar vs the modernisation all around it. That being said, use the newly built underground train systems to get around. Cheap and efficient.
A very good place for shopping and pastime. In Souk Waqif you can see different nationalities and different food. The antique store is catching you eye. There is a bird market adjacent to Souk. Many tourists come here only to taste food. You can see people mostly Arabs from MENA region smoking hukas and sipping tea. Turkish Tea is very favorite.
It's really worth a visit. There are wide variety of things sold here. Even animals :( it has outdoor and indoor parts with AC as well. I really liked that you can just walk and look around without the sellers jumping on you and want to force you to sell you their goods. It was calm and nice. There are a lot a nice restaurants as well to grab some food/drinks.
Love the real Arabic market feeling. So much detail if you walk slowly and stop frequently to take it all in. Highly recommend.
It's a nice place to hangout... Cloths, utensils, pets, spices, dry fruits, sweets, like many items are there to see and purchase...Many restaurants with zeesha are also available there...We could see a few small food outlets only, it will be better if more of them are available. It will be better if multilingual signboard are available. We couldn't see any of them...
One of the most beautiful place in Qatar to spend time with friends and family. Evening is the best time to visit. Almost all kinds of food and both traditional and modern decorative items are available. Even some parts of the place are very artistic where artists are making paintings live. Best place rejuvenate yourself except the smoking area. Overall It is a lovely place and you will never feel bored no matter how many times you visit.
Pretty neat. Tons of shops. Not at all aggressive sellers, unlike other places I've been. Lots of good restaurants. There was even a kitty to pet, though I doubt she'll be there when you're there.
Amazing place to ramble through the alleyways full of stores selling all manner of wares, from hand made confectionery to kitchenware to materials and clothing. And then take in the great range of restaurants, watch the ladies making wafer thin crepes on outdoor griddles, and an artist working under the stars, to the huge size gold finger... the things to see and do go on and on, and then have an ice cream from the sweet cart. Everything for everyone there.
One of the beautiful place in Qatar, it’s a well known and renowned shopping centre. People usually gathered here, evening is the best time for visit here. You can visit here with your near and dear one. Also traditional and modern types of various food items is available here.
A lot of different things you can buy and even a lot of restaurants. Beautiful design on the buildings. Recommend to come here for a look at least.
Again, the place is filled with joy because of Spring Festival, childrens and adults as well really will enjoy the festivities with different amusements. Bring in your whole family and they will love this annual festival. And car parking will not be a problem because of the three level parking basements available underneath Souq Waqif Park.
[please "like" if this is helpful]Iconic. Must visit if you are in Doha.Great care to make modern architecture reflect the past. Even the security uniforms pay homage to this market's long tradition.Explore the many vendors through narrow corridors. Appropriate for the whole family.
On edge of the beautiful Doha cornice... Situated is the amazing Souq Al Waqif. The best place to buy spices, sweets, candies and dry fruits at a very nominal rate. The ambience is the best and no malls will provide u the authentic Qatari local market feeling. Its a must visit place for every tourist.
I was expecting dirt streets, more like a flea market back home, but it was more like what you see in all those videos of how things could have been hundreds of years ago where all the vendors are in tight quarters down a narrow walkway between two buildings that are way too close to each other. It starts out at one end with spices and all sorts of cooking supplies, going into souvenirs, and ending with food joints all with their own specialty from around the region and world.
A vibrant place with authentic Arabic traditions.Attractive to all nationalities and different civilizations you feel sitting at an international airport. * The coolest place in Doha *
Love the ambience.. A fusion of old and Modern culture. A good place to hang out with friends and family
Good place for local street shopping . You will get all souvenirs, local items and perfumes at very cheap cost. Perfumes are original as per our experience. There are pot of Pet shops. Clean and Well maintained property. Nice place to chill in evening.
Good place to discover Doha. Very atmospheric place. A lot of small shops, including food shops and shops with Arabic sweets. There is falcon souq nearby and even falcon hospital. You can find pets market with a lot of birds ( parrots of all kinds and colours, pigeons) and puppies. Open till night.
A very warm and social place as you cam see a lot of different nationalities gathered together eating and enjoying along with the locals. This places gives you a traditional vibe and also hosts a lot of modern restaurants. A great place to chill.
It's basically a traditional Arabic open market. This place is not a good option for hangout, dating and dinner. Visit this place if you want to buy things like spices, dry fruits, pets etc. It's an open public place with many shops and outlets for dining, sheesha, art gallery, kids zone, ice creams etc. Good for kids.
Awesome feel when i be there
Wonderful experience! My husband and I are excited to go back as it's such a huge shopping experience that we couldn't fit in all shops in one trip. The bird shops were absolutely lovely.
A lovely place to immerse yourself in the Qatari culture, the smell of the spices, hustle and bustle of shoppers and store keepers all going about their business. We were fortunate to be there just before sunset, as they let the horses out of their stables. Great to see them prancing around their enclosure and rolling in the sand, enjoying the freedom of outdoors.
Interesting place to visit, with a touch of traditional setting. Many restaurants to choose from that serve good food. Souvenir shops, money changer with good exchange rate, cafes etc., It is tranquil and great to visit.
Souq Al Waqif is a must visit place if you are in Doha. Souq, translates as 'standing market' reflects the culture and heritage of Qatar. The narrow passage reminds you of arabian tales where you can experience the old market, and can purchase from spices to clothes, falcon to diamond, seriously! Souq also has a wide choice of restaurants to choose. Souq is the essence of Doha and if you don't visit, you are missing something big!
Coziest market I've ever been. Transportation to here is made easy with Doha Metro
It took us 2 trips to Souq Al Waqif to truly appreciate the diversity range and value of shopping here. However it did teach me one very useful lesson and that is that the locals appreciate the effort made to wear their traditional dress for men. I could not believe the reactions I got after I purchased and wore this headdress (called a ghutra) around this Souk. Shopkeepers and locals alike smiled at me and gave me the thumbs up and even wanted their photo taken with me. Do it! Wear it! (It also is very cool and comfortable).
A wonderful place having traditional style buildings and shops which makes us to feel older days of Qatar. A nice 0lace to spend leisure time with our loved ones.
Traditio preserves! Awesome atmosphere!!Buy anything you need! One of the best family time in Qatar!! Eyebrows raised when spotted Horse sale and Falcon market and dedicated Falcon hospital and accessories for Falcons!!! (Pics attached)
Good place to visit & marketing
Walking street with multiple eateries and open air seating. Amazing place to enjoy a meal, especially in the evening. Also very amenable if you just want to sit down alone, or with friends, and enjoy a cup of tea/coffee. This place has a very nice vibe to it, would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Doha to come and spend an evening here
Great walks on the market that looks like you're travelling at Doha of 60s!Nice restaurants and market with always a blend of different cultures and nationalities and local events to enjoy with your friends!Highly recommend it!
It is a great place to hangout. Great to enjoy night life in Doha. Here you can find Antique thing which you can present to your love one like a sovereign. One can find a best Spice market, Pet shop and with an out door cuisine. Scenic view old historical Arabian cultural shop. Best view Cornish.
Beautifuly preserved and very welcoming. Amazing atmosphere, even during these testing times.
This is the closest to an Arabian Souq I ever been. It was restored to modern standards but in a way it kept the looks, charm, and above all functionality of a Souq. The local residents come here in the cool evenings to shop, eat, past time. TV programs and music shows also happens live. It is a magical place. In the middle you will find the exotic birds, chicken, rabbits and small animals for sale, including their food and cages. Modern society may disapprove of, but it has kept here, ancient traditions, add the locals (most important of all) and you are transported to the ancient desert people. A must if visiting Doha. The newly opened Metro system has a station at the edge of the Souq. One thing not so Arabic was the quiet but helpful workers keeping the place immaculate clean. Even polishing the rubbish bins. A modern Arabic lifestyle.Recommended (afternoons, evenings)
As a tourist this is a must visit destination in Doha. At the centre of the old town sits Souq Qaqif which gives you an appreciation of the old with the new. We were amazed by the cleanliness and calmness of the whole place. Lots of activities for kids outside the shopping area. We went in the early evening and spent a few hours there. Lots of everything available but it's not a mall!
Excellent place to be. Lots of eating options especially for middle eastern foods. Sheesha places, open air seating. Traditional Souq market for buying local souvenirs. Lively place. Recommended.
Amazing amazing place to hangout. There are so many things to do and buy that you won't be able to stop yourself from visiting this place. The Arab food and the Turkish ice cream is a must try here. People visiting Doha should definitely visit Souq Waqif. It is really a fun place for shopping and eating and an awesome place just to spend a casual evening. Furthermore, it is a cool, pleasant place with lightnings all over the place.
